How Lyft’s Insurance Coverage Works in Missouri
Lyft drivers use their personal vehicles, but once the app is on, a different insurance structure applies. Here’s how it breaks down:
1. App Off
If the driver is not logged into the Lyft app, only their personal auto insurance applies.
Lyft provides no coverage in this scenario.
2. App On, No Passenger
If the driver is logged in but hasn’t accepted a ride:
$50,000 per person for bodily injury
$100,000 per accident
$25,000 for property damage
This coverage is secondary and only kicks in if the driver’s personal policy doesn’t apply or is insufficient.
3. En Route or With a Passenger
This coverage applies regardless of who is at fault.
